The House
Located near the Gulf of Mexico in the quiet Yucatan fishing village of Santa Clara, the house, built in the traditional Mexican style, has been completely renovated with a pool and patio added in the back yard. Cielo Lindo is a wonderful spot to escape winter cold or take a relaxing pause from your busy life. The house was originally 935 square feet, with a large bedroom, two bathrooms with showers, a large kitchen/ dining room and a large living room. There is a king size bed in the downstairs. The house is enclosed by a concrete/metal fence with a metal gate. There is a 14x14 square foot cement patio and a 16x20 square foot pool in the back. The yard is covered with beach sand and has numerous palm trees and five small citrus trees which we recently planted. The house is located 150 yards from the Gulf of Mexico on “the main street” of Santa Clara. In 2009 a storage shed (bodega) was added on to the rear of the house. In 2010 a second storey was added which included two additional bedrooms with double beds, a large bathroom with tiled shower and three balconies, two overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and one overlooking the front yard and main street of Santa Clara.

We have a friend, Beto, who we pay to look after the pool and to do necessary yard work throughout the year. He usually comes twice a week. We also pay two young ladies from Dzidzantun to clean the house once a month while we are in Canada. If you would like them to do extra cleaning during or at the end of your stay, please make arrangements with the ladies. They usually come on Monday mornings about 8:00 and stay until about noon. They charge about $32 Cdn for their cleaning. Please keep in mind that these people are our friends and should be treated with respect. Not all of our guests have done so in the past and we have had to apologize to the ladies previously because of the boorish behaviour of people who we had allowed to stay in our house. You are responsible for making sure that all towels and linens which you use are ready for the next people who will be using the house. You can choose to do the laundry yourself or make arrangements to have the laundry cleaned ($) in Dzidzantun. The ladies who clean have nothing to do with the laundry.
